🌶️ Candied Jalapeños
Sweet, spicy, tangy, and completely addictive! These candied jalapeños are perfect for burgers, sandwiches, tacos, cream cheese appetizers, grilled meats, or simply spooning over crackers. 🔥🍯
Ingredients
- 1 lb fresh jalapeños, thinly sliced
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 cup apple cider vinegar
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp celery seed
- ½ tsp turmeric
- ½ tsp mustard seeds
- ¼ tsp salt
Instructions
- Prepare the jalapeños: Wash the jalapeños and remove the stems. Slice them into thin rings. Remove the seeds and membranes if you prefer less heat.
- Make the syrup: Add sugar and apple cider vinegar to a saucepan over medium heat. Stir until the sugar dissolves.
- Add seasonings: Stir in garlic powder, celery seed, turmeric, mustard seeds, and salt.
- Add jalapeños: Bring the mixture to a gentle boil, then add the sliced jalapeños. Reduce the heat and simmer for 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Cool: Remove from the heat and let the mixture cool slightly. The syrup will continue to thicken as it cools.
- Jar them: Transfer the jalapeños and syrup into a clean airtight jar. Make sure the jalapeños are covered with the syrup.
- Refrigerate: Allow them to chill for several hours, preferably overnight, before serving. The flavor gets even better!
