3-Ingredient Creamy Chocolate Mousse Bites
These rich, glossy, mold-set chocolate treats have an airy mousse texture inside with a silky exterior.
Ingredients
-
1 cup (240ml) Heavy cream (or whipping cream)
-
1 cup (170g) Semisweet or milk chocolate chips (or finely chopped chocolate bars)
-
1 tsp Unflavored gelatin powder + 2 tbsp cold water (or substitute with 1/2 tsp agar-agar powder for a vegetarian option)
Instructions
-
Bloom the Gelatin: In a small bowl, sprinkle the gelatin powder over 2 tablespoons of cold water. Let it sit for 5 minutes to bloom.
-
Melt the Chocolate: Heat 1/3 cup of the heavy cream in a saucepan or microwave until warm (not boiling). Stir in the chocolate chips until completely melted and smooth. Microwave the bloomed gelatin for 5–10 seconds to liquefy it, then whisk it thoroughly into the warm chocolate mixture. Let cool slightly to room temperature.
-
Whip the Cream: In a separate bowl, whip the remaining cold heavy cream until soft peaks form.
-
Combine: Gently fold the whipped cream into the cooled chocolate mixture with a spatula until fully blended and light.
-
Mold & Chill: Pour or pipe the mixture into round silicone dome molds (or muffin tins lined with plastic wrap). Smooth the tops and chill in the refrigerator for at least 3–4 hours (or freeze for 1 hour for easy unmolding).
-
Serve: Gently pop the mousse bites out of the molds onto a plate and let sit at room temperature for 10 minutes before serving.
