Cook Time: 45 minutes
Servings: 4

Ingredients

  • 4 large yellow onions
  • 1 lb (450g) ground beef
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese, divided
  • ½ cup cooked bacon, diced, divided
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Peel the onions and cut off the tops. Carefully scoop out the centers, leaving enough onion layers to create sturdy hollow bowls.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, half of the shredded cheddar, half of the cooked bacon, salt, and black pepper.
  4. Fill each hollowed onion generously with the beef mixture.
  5. Wrap each stuffed onion individually in aluminum foil and place them on a baking tray.
  6. Bake for 35–40 minutes, until the onions are tender and the beef is fully cooked.
  7. Carefully unwrap the foil from the tops. Sprinkle with the remaining cheddar cheese and bacon.
  8. Broil for 3–5 minutes, until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and lightly golden.
  9. Serve hot and enjoy!
