A quick, crowd-pleasing dinner with crispy chicken coated in a sweet, sticky garlic-honey glaze. Similar recipes are often ready in 20–30 minutes and use a honey, garlic, and soy sauce combination for the sauce.
Ingredients
Chicken
- 1 lb (450 g) chicken tenders
- ½ cup cornstarch
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 egg, beaten
- 2 tbsp oil (for frying)
Honey Garlic Sauce
- ¼ cup honey
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1 tsp rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar
- 1 tsp cornstarch mixed with 1 tbsp water (optional, for a thicker sauce)
Instructions
- Coat the chicken: Mix cornstarch, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Dip each tender in egg, then coat in the cornstarch mixture.
- Cook until crispy: Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Fry chicken tenders for 3–4 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through.
- Make the sauce: In the same pan, lower the heat and add butter and garlic. Cook for 30 seconds. Stir in honey, soy sauce, and vinegar.
- Thicken (optional): Add the cornstarch slurry and simmer for 1–2 minutes until glossy and slightly thickened.
- Glaze the chicken: Return the tenders to the pan and toss until fully coated in the sauce.
- Serve: Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions. Serve with rice, fries, or steamed vegetables.
Tips
- For extra crunch, use panko breadcrumbs after the egg coating.
- Air fryer option: Cook at 400°F (200°C) for 10–12 minutes, flipping halfway.
- Add a teaspoon of chili flakes or sriracha for a spicy honey-garlic version.
