Cheesy Tomato Toast in the Air Fryer 🧀🍅
This is my “I don’t want to cook, but I still want something really good” recipe. It always works—crispy bread, gooey melted cheese, and juicy tomatoes in just a few minutes!
Ingredients
- 2 slices thick bread (sourdough, country bread, or Texas toast)
- 2 tsp softened butter or olive oil
- 1 garlic clove, minced (optional)
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 small ripe tomato, thinly sliced
- 2 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese
- ½ tsp Italian seasoning
- ÂĽ tsp garlic powder
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- Fresh basil or parsley, chopped (optional)
- Red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your air fryer to 370°F (188°C) for 2–3 minutes.
- Spread butter or olive oil evenly over both slices of bread. If using fresh garlic, mix it into the butter first.
- Sprinkle a little mozzarella over the bread to create a base layer.
- Arrange the tomato slices evenly on top.
- Season with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning.
- Add the remaining mozzarella, then sprinkle Parmesan over the top.
- Place the toast in the air fryer basket in a single layer.
- Air fry for 5–7 minutes, or until the bread is crisp and the cheese is melted, bubbly, and lightly golden.
- Garnish with chopped basil, parsley, or a pinch of red pepper flakes if desired.
- Serve immediately while the cheese is hot and stretchy.
Tips
- Use thick-cut bread so it stays crispy.
- Pat tomato slices dry with a paper towel to prevent soggy toast.
- Add cooked bacon, pepperoni, ham, or sautéed mushrooms for extra flavor.
- A drizzle of balsamic glaze after cooking adds a delicious finishing touch.
